Missions :
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting cycle, streamlining systems and procedures, working with all areas of the organization to ensure accuracy of financial results.
Profile :
Prepares and assists in reviewing and approving adjusting journal entries to accurately close the monthly fiscal period in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Prepares and assists in reviewing and approving various reconciliations of accounts and journal entries related to such accounts.
Assists in overseeing the daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger.
Coordinates month end inventory counts and reconciliations with Food & Beverage department.
Performs analysis and reporting of month-end.
Ensures account coding is accurate and all invoices are being returned on timely basis.
Pays all Hotel invoices in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy of amount paid, account coding, invoice extension and all discounts are taken.
Handles vendor inquires and reconcile vendor statements.
Creates, implements and monitors resort wide financial internal control SOPs.
Assists with training and support on accounting procedures and software best practices.
Maintains and optimizes the use of accounting systems, Oracle, Opera, Micros.
Assists in periodic operating or capital budgets in conjunction with departmental heads and other finance departments.
Participates in the follow-up of contracts and subscriptions.
Supports the organization, activities and management of the procurement team.
Supports the Director of Finance with special projects, audit preparation, and process improvement initiatives.
Ensures the follow-up, control, allocation, and payment of expense reports.
What you Bring :
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial position, in hospitality preferred.
Fluent in English; other languages considered an asset.
Knowledge of the hospitality field, preferrable.
Strong knowledge of Excel and its functions, and other Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of main accounting systems (such as: Oracle, Cloud, Opera, Micros, Declaree, Paycom, Blackline, Ayden, Business Central.
A strong understanding of financial management obligations, especially statutory obligations and requirements.
Strong knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models.
Strong knowledge of accounting practices and procedures including AP, AR, GL, and cash
